ISO1090 – CE Marking
From 1st July 2014 it became a mandatory requirement for all structural steelwork placed on the market in the EU to be CE marked.
To enable a fabricator or manufacturer of structural steelwork to CE mark the products that he places on the market, he has to have a factory production control system that meets the requirements of BS ISO EN 1090:1 2009 +A1:2011, and if appropriate, a welding certificate.
This requirement applies to individual components, staircases, walkways, steel frames etc. Failure to comply will have severe consequences and will result in the withdrawal of your product from the market, as a minimum penalty.
Working to the standard not only allows you to legally trade in Structural Steelwork, it also provides many benefits to the day to day running of the business, enabling the company to refine its internal processes and become a more streamlined, cost effective operation.
If your company deals in any aspect of structural steelwork, from flame cutting, laser cutting through to design and fabrication of complete buildings, Momentum Partnership can help bring you up to speed with the new requirement, seamlessly guiding you through the entire process in order to achieve your Factory Production Control (FPC) Certificate, Welding Certificate, and other process controls as required.
