Are you ISO9001:2008 or ISO14001:2004 accredited?
If the answer is yes, then by now you should have a plan put in place to transition to the latest version for both standards.
By September 2017, we will have entered the final year of the three year long transition period given to companies by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).
Why is this important?
If by September 2018 your organisation has not transition to the latest standard, your ISO accreditations will become obsolete. In order to be certified again, you will have to start working on your management systems from scratch, which takes longer and is more expensive.
What’s the rush?
It is up to you to decide when it is the best time to upgrade your management systems to the latest versions, however: why would you want to wait? Delaying this transition might be risky as it might take time to put the new arrangements in place and make it work in your organisation. Additionally, only in ideal world everything goes according to plan!
